Ways to Sell Your Mobile
There are a number of mobile phone companies that will pay you money for old mobile phones but what if they don’t accept your phone? What should you do if they’re only willing to pay a few pounds for your handset? It’s still important to recycle your old phone even if you aren’t going to get any money for it.
The problem is that the price of new mobile phones has come down in recent years. You can now get basic mobile phones for around £10 which means older phones will often sell for less. This in turn means that recycling companies have to be careful about how much they pay for a phone. Here are some alternative ways to recycle your old mobile phone.
Dont Sell Your Mobile, Give Your Phone To Charity Instead!
If you are feeling generous, you do not need to sell your mobile at all, some charities will recycle mobile phones by refurbishing and then reselling them in order to raise money to continue operating. They may also take an old phone and recycle it if it can’t be resold. A charity may be willing to accept a phone that recycling companies won’t.
There are schemes that will sell your mobile phone for you and then donate some of the cash to a charity. It’s usually best to avoid these schemes because it makes more sense to sell the phone yourself and then make a donation. This way you get to make some money and the charity still gets a donation. If you have an older mobile phone that isn’t worth much then this may not be an option though.
Re-Using a Mobile
If you have an old mobile that works then there is no need to throw it away or sell it. If you think that anyone in your family may need a phone in the near future then keeping it can be a good idea – especially if it doesn’t have much resale value.
If, however, you are sure that the phone won’t be used again then it’s important to make sure it’s recycled correctly. Nearly all recycling companies will recycle an old phone for you for free so this isn’t difficult and shouldn’t be overlooked.
Sell Your Mobile Via Classified Ads
Putting a small advert in your local newspaper can be a cheap and effective way of getting a buyer. You’re much more likely to get a good deal for your old mobile by selling it to someone else rather than a recycling company. Make sure you’re completely honest about the condition of the phone and any faults it may have though.
Sending Back a Mobile to the Manufacturer or Network
Most mobile phone companies will dispose of your phone in an environmentally way if you send it back to them. You probably won’t receive any money from this but at least you can be sure that your phone won’t pollute the environment. On the other hand, some retailers will offer money for an old mobile in the form of a discount on a new phone which may be worth considering. This could be especially useful if you were planning on using the money for a new phone anyway.
